Once a term, parents are invited to attend an Open Day at school where they can meet any of the teachers to discuss the progress of their children.
Elizabeth Moir School is keen to involve parents with their child’s education. In addition to the Open days, a number of Parents’ Evenings are scheduled throughout the year to communicate key issues:
Junior School
In the second or third week of each academic year, all Junior School parents are invited to listen to class and subject teachers explain what they will be teaching that year. This is an excellent opportunity for parents to ask questions and familiarise themselves with Junior School staff.
Towards the end of the academic year, Junior 5 parents – along with Junior 5 students – are invited to a Transition Evening at the Senior School. Here, members of Junior 5 are introduced to their teachers for the following year and are given the opportunity to learn a little bit more about life at the Senior School.
Senior School
Throughout the year, there are important evenings for Senior School parents and their children. At the start of the academic year, an evening is devoted to Form 4 and the Lower 6th – an ideal opportunity to discuss the O Level and A Level courses.
At the start of the second term, parents from Form 5 and the Upper 6th are invited to meet subject and class teachers to discuss the last few weeks of teaching before their public examinations.
There are also scheduled evenings towards the end of the year for Form 3 to learn more about O Level options for the next year and the Lower 6th to hear about the application process for universities throughout the world.
