The Junior School knows how to mark an occasion in style. With tremendous assistance from parents and teachers, festivities such as UN Day really do epitomise, and celebrate, the school. Encouraged to dress for the day in their national costumes, the school is full of sarongs, saris, kimonos, kilts, burkhas and lederhosen. The flags represented by the different nationalities within the school are paraded onto stage before each group of nationals offer a greeting from their respective countries. The students learn the importance of global harmony and are spoilt for choice when sampling food from all over the world!
WhizzBangTechniTastic is another annual event enjoyed at the Junior School. It is an action-packed day of IT and science-related experiments, with students involved in a whole range of activities designed to help them appreciate the significance of these subjects in their everyday lives.
Over the last three years, The Senior School has experimented with certain theme days and they have all been a huge success. The first of these, Arts Day, enabled students from various English, History, Geography, EFL, Sinhala and French classes to showcase important aspects of their subjects’ syllabus. From short plays (Romeo & Juliet; The French Revolution) and debates to displays (The USA in the 1920’s; Rainforests) and video presentations, there was plenty of range to keep everyone informed and entertained. Similar days have been repeated for Science and Mathematics.
