Aside from the sporting clubs, there are plenty of other activities for students in both schools to enjoy. Here are some of the options currently offered:

Junior School

Needlework
Needlework is the perfect Club for children who enjoy practical craft activities. Members are introduced to basic needlework stitches including running, chain, cross and blanket stitch, and compile a stitch scrap book. Once the basic stitches have been learnt, students use their knowledge to decorate items like pillowcases aprons, art bags and rag dolls.

English Conversation
This club is designed for EFL students and encourages its members to communicate in English on a variety of topics. The club has proved very successful in providing additional support for EFL students and has certainly helped integrate students into mainstream classes.

Computer
Computer Club builds on the work done in IT lessons to show how computers can be both fun and educational. Members play games, produce newsletters and posters, and create presentations.

Choir
In Choir Club students  enjoy learning new songs, actions and simple dances.  Members have the opportunity to participate in public performances at events such as assemblies, the School Play and Founders’ Day.

Cookery
Cookery Club members have the chance to create simple dishes and learn the skills of chopping, baking, measuring, frying, boiling and, of course, eating!

Dance
In Dance Club members  learn a variety of dance styles including jazz, baila, Kandyan dancing, Tamil dancing and rock’n’roll. Students also have the opportunity to create their own dance moves to a variety of music styles.

Nature
The Nature Club is perfect for students interested in exploring the parks, streams, ponds, lakes and fields of Colombo. There is plenty of opportunity to watch birds, butterflies, dragonflies, bugs, fish, lizards, frogs and other wildlife.

Art
Members of the Art Club develop a variety of artistic skills and techniques using a wide range of materials. There is always plenty to learn and most of the work produced in these sessions is displayed at the annual Art Exhibition.

 

Senior School

Choir, Drama & Dance
These three clubs are extremely popular. Whether learning a new song, sketch or routine, the sessions are full of energy, creativity and enjoyment.

Debating
In Debating Club, members learn a variety of techniques to employ when public speaking. Each year, the club prepares representatives for the Model United Nations conference where they debate various issues with delegates from other countries.

Outward Bound
Outward Bound members are engaged in outdoor pursuits, from cycling to wall climbing and fire building. In the past, the club has also raised funds for local charities.

Press
The Press Club works on various publications throughout the year. As well as the regular Newsletters, members of The Press Club edit the layout and content of the school magazine which is eagerly received by the whole school on the final day of the academic year.

Art
From charcoal to clay and graffiti to watercolours, Art Club members enjoy expressing themselves through a variety of mediums. Students take great pride in seeing their work displayed at the annual Art Exhibition
