Deeply committed to the sentiment that a healthy body promotes a healthy mind, Elizabeth Moir School is keen for all students, regardless of ability, to participate in sporting activities. Besides the obvious advantages of staying healthy and fit, many of the sports offered at school encourage students to work as part of a team and to learn the merits of good sportsmanship.
There are many sporting clubs for children in both schools to choose from and they all take place after school. Club sessions are treated as seriously as lessons, each one planned with a specific objective and designed to engage all members and teach them new skills. Elizabeth Moir School is part of a group of international schools that compete with one another in a variety of sports over a calendar year. As well as the Inter-International Swimming & Athletics Meets, there are regular tournaments with several schools in Basketball, Cricket, Netball & Football for students of all different ages. The school receives a great deal of support during all these matches and there is a terrific atmosphere in every tournament.
Over the past ten years, many students have held national titles while still studying at Elizabeth Moir School. Nirasha Guruge, for example, who recently competed for Sri Lanka in The Asian Games, is the country’s Number 1 ranked squash player.
